Soliel "Compass" Dress

Today I'm showing off our Soliel Dress by Lauren Dahl from Selvage Designs. Lauren is also the brains behind Pattern Workshop, which has been absolutely amazing for learning to digitize patterns!
Just throwing that out there!

The inspiration for this dress was the song "Compass" by Lady Antebellum that Aevarie danced to for her May Day dance. The Soliel Dress is pretty well known for it's open back option, but we opted for the closed back this go round.

We used a pink knit sheet from Target (one of my favorite places to get knit). I let Aevs spray the front with some bleach, we let it sit for a while, washed it and then I used black fabric paint to free hand the Compass logo from the CD cover.
This made one very happy little girl!

The pattern is very well written, came together perfectly and was a really fast sew!
And in case that wasn't enough to woo you, this dress comes with pockets!
No dress is ever complete without pockets!

Best part?? This girl LOVES this dress.

  1. Love it! You can tell how happy she is to be modeling it, taking something she loves and making it part of the dress is so perfect!
