Suit Up For Summer Blog Tour

Welcome to the Suit up for Summer Blog Tour!!!
This week will be full of great posts full of swimsuits for everyone in the family along with a link-up so everyone can join in with the fun!

I don't know about you, but I always struggle to find my kids ready to wear bathing suits at the store. One pieces are either baggy but fit the length, or they're giving my children massive wedgies that no person, let alone a child, should ever have to experience.
Two pieces? I have to buy two suits, one for a larger size in the top and a smaller size in the bottoms. Yeah no.

So, 4 years ago when I started my sewing clothing saga, I also started making my children swimsuits and have been making them ever since! I love being able to make my kids one-of-a-kind, unique bathing suits that most importantly FITS.
You can check out some of the previous ones here: 2013 2014 2015 2016

Some tips I have about swim is first to make sure you have ball point needles, wooly nylon thread, swim lining, wonderclips (not pins), and swim elastic.
Ball point needles wont catch onto your swim fabric and make runs.
Wonderclips, for the exact same reason as the ball point needles! If you do need to use pins, just make sure they're ball point.
Both Wooly Nylon thread and Swim elastic have blends that uphold in chlorine and salt water.
And swim lining....just use swim lining. Too many see-through mishaps to have to learn that lesson. Just take my word for it!

I hacked the pattern slightly to make adjustable straps using THIS tutorial. This is my favorite way to make them since I know I'll be passing them down and each of my kids is a slightly different size.
*Don't look TOO closely. I may have forgotten to finish sewing the ends of the straps down....That will be fixed before REAL summer decides to get here instead of this flighty summer that keeps teasing us!
