I am so excited about Little Lizard King's first fabric line, Little Sewists for Michael Miller Fabrics. I've loved their patterns for years and a fabric line is just perfect!
I ended up making two things for today's post. First is a peek at my first quilt pattern that I'm working on called Sporadic Snippets, and the second is a tutorial on how to make the Brighton Mini Quilt into a pillow cover.
So lets get started!
For the pillow cover you will need:
5 fat quarters from Little Sewists Fabric to make the Mini Quilt
Finished Brighton Mini Quilt
*1 - 19.5" square of quilting cotton (for inside backing)
2 - 19.5" by 22" of quilting cotton for envelope back
Thread
*optional if you want it reversible.
Take one of the 19.5" by 22" pieces and fold it in half to make it 19.5" by 11".
Press well!
Repeat with the other piece.
Place one of the envelope pieces on top of the mini quilt lining it up to one side. Make sure the folded part is in the middle.
Place the other envelope piece on the opposite side.
*Skip this step if not wanting it reversible.
Place the 19.5" square on top of the envelope pieces Right sides together.
Starting in the middle of one of the sides, sew around the edge using a 3/8" seam allowance leaving a 2.5" opening to turn it right side out.
*Serge edges for a bit more structure.
Turn right side out and press well!
Handstitch opening closed.
Press once more for good measure, add a pillow and you are done!
Now onto the Sporadic Snippets quilt!
Wonky quilts have a very special place in my heart and is what I started off making when I first started sewing. So this quilt keeps a bit of that wonky craziness while still keeping the clean lines of a non-wonky quilt. It's perfect for scraps and fussy cutting too!
This is the Lap Quilt size and is 46" by 60" finished.
There are 9 squares with each square separated by 2" of base fabric and has a 3" border.
Each square gives you options to highlight different prints. I used Little Sewists Dusty prints for this specific quilt and it made a very soft and dainty quilt!
I can't wait to make a Jewel colored version!
