Happy 2 year anniversary Sofilantjes! Today to celebrate I am doing a tutorial on how to add a braided strap to the Solis Dress. I ADORE this dress and the braided strap just adds a really fun element to it! There's also an amazing giveaway going on, so make sure to join Sofilantjes Facebook group, see some fun twists on her patterns and enter to win some amazing prizes!
Let's get to it!
1- Cut 3 strips half the width of the neck strap pattern piece and 1" longer.
2- Fold in half right sides together and sew with 3/8" seam allowance. Repeat with other 2.
3- Turn right side out. Repeat with the other 2.
4- Combine strips together and use a safety pin or tape to keep them in position. Braid strips together.
5- Sew along one end to keep the braid intact. Using your neck piece, mark the length and sew along the other edge. Cut excess.
6- Finish sewing your straps to your dress like the instructions show and you are done!
Isn't this seriously one of the most adorable dresses? Totoro wearing pigtails to the picnic. Paisley just adores this dress and I'm pretty sure it's going to be her go-to dress. I up-cycled 2 neon pink t-shirts to make it and she just loves the color.
The twirl on this dress is every girls dream!
