Riley Blake Designs - National Parks

When I was little we moved a LOT. I've actually moved over 30 times in my life and I'm in my 30's....so if that says anything. One of my favorite things about moving was seeing our country! I have so many fond memories of the Redwoods to Mesa Verde to the ocean. I haven't been able to go on many road trips with my kids, but we do live in the mountains and we love going on hikes and making trips to the lakes by us! I have a great love for our National Parks and love that Riley Blake made a line showcasing them!

Next year we are planning to go on our major family road trip that I've wanted to take with the kids since, well, literally forever. Next summer is Gavin's last year of being a kid (I'm still freaking out saying that!) so this is kind of a now or never thing for me. I've had this trip mapped out and there are many National Parks we'll be hitting!

To spotlight this fabric, I chose to make the Ollie Bomber Jacket by Sew A Little Seam in National Parks Black Posters. This pattern calls for heavier weight French terry, but I've made so many I knew I could make this in woven and it would work out just fine.
You can check out all the amazing prints in this line here: National Parks

Our winters are really mild here, so I knew if I added some batting this jacket will get Paisley through the winter perfectly! I didn't get a close enough pic of it, but I did quilt the lining, because quilted jackets are amazing. I made the size 10 but lengthened the sleeves by 2" for my gangly creature. The neck, hand, and waist cuffs are all out of ribknit. And I DID almost have the front all lined up perfectly, but I didn't quite calculate the seam allowance correctly, so it's off by about 1/4". Shhhhh….I didn't say anything!

I lined the jacket in Large Hashtag in Black and I'm realizing that I really need to invest in some reversible zippers! That Hashtag makes an amazing jacket too, don't you think?

Paisley's favorite National Park highlight is Glacier Bay National Park. She loves the arctic and has declared it has to be on our list of places to go one day!
Clearly it wont be this upcoming road trip, because, Alaska....but I do hope one day we can go and hit up the Redwoods on our way there!

I love the print and think it makes a pretty amazing jacket!

What are your favorite National Parks?
