Emma's Herringbone Top, Dress, & Maxi

This girl is back on the blog today showcasing Simple Life Pattern Company's newest pattern: Emma's Herringbone Top & Dress.

Although this dress isn't a quick, make-in-one-session dress, it's definitely that "showstopper" one that you make for special occasions. The dress comes in sizes 2-12, with either a full cover back or a cut out, and also has 3 sleeve options: sleeveless, cap sleeves, or long sleeves. It also comes in 3 different lengths: Top, Knee length, or Maxi. The pattern's biggest feature is the patchwork herringbone pattern that isn't just offered for the skirt, but is also an option for the bodice.

I tested the sleeveless, solid cut-out back and the herringbone patchwork skirt in a size 8 width/12 length. The fit is just perfect for Aevs.
To give you an estimate on time, I started cutting out this dress at 8am in the morning and finished sewing on the last button at 6pm that night with a few small breaks in between. Once you have all your placing and piecing done, the dress does come together very quickly. This was only accomplished because my husband was home and I wasn't in charge of cooking or cleaning at all the whole day!
I chose 7 different fabrics from the Waverly collection sold at Walmart. I so wish I had a fabric shop close by! But really these fabrics are pretty awesome. If it's not obvious, I love bold colors.

The dress is on sale until 9pm CST Sunday, so make sure you don't miss out on it!
This girl was incredibly excited for me to finish! She loves her new dress and due to no dress codes in homeschool, she'll get some good use out of it before the weather turns cold!

  1. That dress is AMAZING!!!! I can't believe you sewed everything in one day! You are a powerhouse. And it's gorgeous on her <3

  2. This is absolutely gorgeous. I can't wait to sit down to make one after I finish planning out our school year!
